 I know most of you are reading that title and thinking “How do I make dinner fun?” Especially since we were taught at an early age how it’s not polite to play with your food. In this case it is okay to play with the food, or rather play with the idea of how to dismiss for dinner at your reception or next event.
To do this you need to ensure that you are having a buffet. Doesn’t really make sense to dismiss tables for a sit down dinner does it? I hope you can take these ideas and turn them into a more memorable experience for you and your guests. Instead of having your guests wait to go through the buffet line, why not use this opportunity to entertain and have fun with them.
Play trivia with the guests
People love playing games, so why not ask trivia questions for a chance to jump to the front of the buffet line. The questions can be centered on the guests of honor or the theme of the event. Weddings can do bride and groom trivia, reunions can ask questions as to what went on in the year they graduated, etc..
Make it truly detailed information about the event. (For the harder questions, maybe a little hint might be required.) The first person with the correct answer, they get to take their table and jump to the front of the buffet line. This works really well to break the ice and get guests talking to each other. Make sure your entertainment knows how to do this, and ask your entertainer for ideas to enhance this event.
